Here we will regularly update sample extracts from GCMS notes that show details of why a visa officer has refused certain study visa applications. The purpose is to show the importance of ordering the GCMS notes when you are refused.

In addition, you can learn from the refusal of others.

Thisis a GCMS note for a Canada study visa refusal.

This is a mistake so many people make and get their visas refused. Imagine how their story would have been different if ONLY they got the Canada Japa System….and followed the guidelines. If you have a sponsor, please do what you can to prove your relationship to them. Dont just say someone is your brother, uncle or parent without proof.

Unclear lump sums deposited in the account without explanations. This visa officer was also uncomfortable with the microfinance bank used but that does not mean you cannot use Microfinance banks as long as the funds are clear and the source is well explained

This one still pertains to lump sum deposits that has no explanation and the visa officers did bot understand the source of the funds. He or she feels the applicant would not have access to the funds
Make sue you do not tell any lies or submit any fraudulent documents with your application – it could lead not only to a refusal but a 5 year ban as well. Please avoid it!
This applicant’s education and work history did not align with the program they were applying to go and study. The visa officer is wondering why someone who is already a manager wants to go study a bachelors in Computer – they obviously already have a bachelors. A lower program is not forbidden AS LONG AS you can clearly and convincing explain WHY

This PA is applying for an undergraduate diploma even though she has a bachelors degree and the visa officer feels that is not in line with her current education and career. She is also applying with three kids even though she is not well established in her country of residence. This visa officer is not having it!!
No proof of relationship with sponsor and no financial commitment from the sponsor so the visa officer feels the funds will not be available.
Growing the money in your bank account drastically with absolutely no explanation or proof is a BOG read flag and could get your visa refused!

This PA did not provide documents to show their employment and income and there were huge unexplained funds in their bank statement which made the visa officer believe that the funds were for ‘display’ only. Visa refused!!

This applicant was denied for a lack of progress in their study plan

This applicant was denied for using a 3rd party sponsor with no history of previous support and no commitment in the form of paying their tuition or transferring funds to their account
This applicant was sponsored by their parents but there were lump sum deposits that were unexplained and no proof of relationship with the parent - something that could have been easily fixed by a birth certificate with parents' details. Lump sums MUST be explained clearly with proof!
This candidate was also refused for 3rd party sponsor, without evidence of a relationship or helping them in the past. They also omitted to submit their own account statement which would have convinced the VO that there were funds available for their study despite the sponsorship
This prospect was refused because their proposed study program was unrelated to their previous education and employment history, something we seriously stress in the Canada Japa system. Your study must match previous education and/or employment history
