Post-graduation work permit Updates (2023)
Changes to off-campus work hours (2023)
You may be eligible to work more than 20 hours per week off campus under a temporary public policy. Find out if you meet the requirements.
Changes to the post-graduation work permit
Starting September 1, 2023, there will be changes to post-graduation work permit (PGWP) eligibility for certain programs at some DLIs in Quebec. Before you enrol, make sure you check the Details page for your DLI in the list here.
- If you complete your program of study prior to September 1, 2023, and apply for a PGWP within 6 months of completing your studies, you will have access to the PGWP under the current criteria.
- If you begin a program of study after September 1, 2023, you will only be able to apply for a PGWP if you graduate from a subsidized program of study that remains eligible for the PGWP after September 1, 2023.
- If you are studying in a program that will no longer be eligible for the PGWP after September 1, 2023, the time you spent studying in the program prior to that date may be counted towards a PGWP in the future.
You need to know if you are eligible to work after you graduate. Not all designated learning institutions and not all programs of study make you eligible for the Post-Graduation Work Permit Program.
Along with graduating from a PGWP-eligible designated learning institution, you need to meet all other criteria to get a post-graduation work permit.
The list below will let you know if your designated learning institution offers programs that will make you eligible for a post-graduation work permit:
